Shilsya of homespun cloth (sermyaga) had a careless cut, put on in the summer by both men and women. The name "azyam" - Turkic origin - had circulated in Kazan and neighboring provinces, and in other areas like clothing called Russia's coat, ponitkoy, Chuikov, sermyaga and others. In some regions of Russia azyamom called different types of fur coats, sheepskin coats. Azyam spread to Russia in the second half of the XVI century, and the mention of him wearing the peasants found in the literature beginning of XX century.
