In 1845, Alexander Dumas published his novel "The Lady of the Camellias", dedicated to his beloved Marie Duplessis. Because of her illness she could not bear the strong odors of flowers, the exception was only a subtle scent of camellias. This work formed the basis of the opera "La Traviata", and it, in turn, inspired perfumers Guerlain house to create the eponymous fragrance. This season in the Big just the premiere of the opera.
