In India ornamentation fabric originated in the second century BC. The main elements of the pattern were sockets, swastika meander, flowers, crosses and diamonds. Chinese paintings on fabric even older, they intertwine fantastic and real animals and plants. Templates for the ornamentation on the finished material at different times did the most famous artists: S. Botticelli, Raphael, A. Mantegna, Jan van Eyck, A. Watteau, F. Goya and others.
