Staple fibers (German word Stapel - «fiber") - a chemical fiber of predetermined length, usually 40-70 mm, depending on the purpose. These lengths (staple) is obtained by cutting or tearing the bundle of a plurality of curled filaments which may be synthetic (viscose, polyester) or natural (linen, wool, cotton). This process is called stapling. Yarns of staple fibers is more even, and the fabrics therefrom have better thermal protective and hygienic properties, softer and more pleasant to the touch than those made from conventional yarns.
