 According to archaeological and bibliographic survey, Kabat has been widely used since the middle of the XIII century in Europe. It was a close-fitting jacket or coat, made out of 4 or 8 pieces. As a rule, Kabat was made of leather, but there were also woolen, silk, velvet - depending on the destination. Since Kabat considered outerwear, it was made of rather crude materials, lined or fur on the inside.

Kabat sleeves were cut from the shape of the forearm from a single piece of cloth, fastened with buttons. The length of this kind of got out of his coat to the knee or just below, decorated with stand-up collar. According to the center in front of the thighs, he fastens with buttons, sewn (and dressed over the head) or laces.

Today Kabat widely used for the reconstruction of ancient battles, jousting and battles.
